The Nevada County Sheriff's Office sent a Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) during the Yuba Fire because it was moving towards the Yuba River Canyon at one point, an area that was likely populated by people who may not have been signed up for Nevada County Alerts. NCSO's Sergeant Liller spoke with KVMR news to explain how WEAs work and why they're sent out.
